DOWN Guitarist Dismisses Rumors Of PHILIP ANSELMO's Departure From The Group
May 27, 2003DOWN guitarist Kirk Windstein has dismissed persistent rumors of vocalist Philip Anselmo's departure from the group, saying in an online posting, "If [Phil] is done with DOWN, I know nothing of it. I've known Phil for about 20 years now and I think he focuses on the task at hand. He's always been that way. [SUPERJOINT RITUAL] is his focus right now I'm sure there'll be time for DOWN in the not-too-distant future."
DOWN's last studio album, "Down II", was released in March 2002. Since then, Anselmo has announced plans to focus all his attention on SUPERJOINT RITUAL, his side project with EYEHATEGOD guitarist/DOWN drummer Jimmy Bower and ex-STRESSBALL/DEMONSEEDS drummer Joe Fazzio. SUPERJOINT RITUAL's sophomore full-length effort, "A Lethal Dose Of American Hatred", is due on July 22 through Sanctuary Records.
